Charting Engine, World Maps, Mermaid Diagrams

SlidesAI Gets a New Charting Engine, World Maps, Mermaid Diagrams, and More

More ways to work with data, diagrams, links, and technical content — without leaving SlidesAI.

Presentations often start with a lot of information: sales numbers, research findings, process diagrams, geographic data, or even lines of code that need to fit on a slide.

Turning that information into something people can quickly understand can take time. With our latest SlidesAI update, you have more tools for working with that information directly in the editor.

You can now create more types of charts, edit chart data in a spreadsheet-style grid, annotate important numbers, build World Map charts, create and edit Mermaid diagrams, work with smarter links, and add code blocks more easily.

We’ve also reorganized the Insert menu and made several smaller improvements to charts and editing.

What’s New in SlidesAI?

Feature What You Can Do
More Chart Types Create Scatter, Bubble, Funnel, Waterfall, Heatmap, Mekko, and other charts
Chart Data Editor Add and update numbers using a spreadsheet-style grid
Chart Annotations Highlight important numbers, trends, and differences

There are also improvements to right-to-left charts and chart previews.

More Ways to Visualize Your Data

Choose the Right Chart for Your Data

Not every set of data belongs in a bar chart.

The updated charting engine gives you more options alongside existing bar, line, area, pie, and donut charts.

You can now create:

  • Horizontal Bar
  • Combo
  • Scatter
  • Bubble
  • Funnel
  • Waterfall
  • Heatmap
  • Mekko

You can switch between chart types without losing the data behind your chart, making it easier to try different ways of presenting the same information.

Edit Chart Data Like a Spreadsheet

The chart editor now includes a spreadsheet-style grid where you can add rows and columns, rename series, and update values directly.

If your data is already in Excel or Google Sheets, you can paste it into the grid. CSV data can also be imported.
That means you can update the numbers behind a chart without rebuilding the chart each time your data changes.

Highlight the Numbers That Matter

A chart can contain all the information you need and still leave your audience wondering where to look.

The new annotation tools let you point out the information you want people to notice.

Choose from:

  • Arrow: Point toward a number, trend, or part of the chart.
  • Text: Add a note directly to the chart.
  • Sticker: Add an emoji to a data point when a simple visual cue makes sense.
  • Highlight: Draw attention to a data point, series, or category.
  • Tooltip: Attach a text callout to a specific data point.
  • Difference: Compare two data points and show the change as a value, percentage, or proportion.

This is particularly useful when you’re presenting a chart and want to direct your audience to a specific number or trend instead of making them scan the entire graph.

Note: Charts with rendered annotations export to PowerPoint as images rather than editable chart objects.

Turn Geographic Data Into a World Map

Some data is easier to understand when you can see where it is happening.

Think about sales across countries, website traffic by region, customers in different markets, or research data spread across the world.

SlidesAI now lets you create World Map charts using country names or country codes alongside your values.

You can choose between two visual styles:

  • Shaded countries: Countries use different shades based on their values.
  • Bubbles: Bubbles show values across different locations.

You can also add country names, values, legends, and annotations.

Explore Your Map While You Work

World Map charts are interactive in the editor. You can:

  • Zoom in and out
  • Pan across the map
  • Fit the map to your data
  • Reset the view

These controls also work in full-screen Present mode. Any navigation you make while presenting is temporary and does not change the saved slide.

Create and Edit Mermaid Diagrams in SlidesAI

If you use Mermaid to create structured diagrams from text, you can now work with those diagrams directly inside SlidesAI.

Instead of creating a diagram somewhere else and then bringing it into your presentation, you can add and edit Mermaid diagrams from the SlidesAI editor.

Choose From 17 Diagram Types

You can create:

  • Flowcharts
  • Sequence diagrams
  • Class diagrams
  • State diagrams
  • ER diagrams
  • Gantt charts
  • Git graphs
  • Mind maps
  • User journeys
  • Requirement diagrams
  • C4 Context diagrams
  • Sankey diagrams
  • Packet diagrams
  • Kanban diagrams
  • Architecture diagrams
  • Treemaps
  • Block diagrams

This gives you more ways to explain processes, systems, workflows, relationships, and other structured information directly in your presentation.

Edit Diagrams Without Working Directly With Code

You don’t have to be comfortable writing Mermaid syntax to make changes.

You can:

  • Edit the underlying Mermaid text
  • Change labels directly from the preview
  • Ask AI to simplify or expand a diagram
  • Ask AI to fix a diagram

Review a before-and-after comparison before saving AI changes

This makes it easier to refine a diagram without rebuilding it from scratch.

Keep Diagrams Consistent With Your Presentation

Mermaid diagrams automatically use your presentation’s colors, fonts, and background.

If you change your presentation theme, the diagrams update to match it as well, helping them fit naturally into the rest of the deck.

Funnel Charts Show More Than Just the Funnel

Funnel charts are useful for anything that moves through stages — from sales pipelines and signup processes to hiring funnels and customer journeys.

The updated funnel chart can also show what happens between stages, including:

Conversion rate
Drop-off count
Change from the previous stage
Change from the starting stage

This gives you more context without needing a separate table beside the chart.

Links That Stay Useful as Your Presentation Changes

Links can become easy to overlook when a presentation is generated and then edited.

SlidesAI now carries supported web, email, phone, and slide links from prompts, notes, and source documents into generated and refined presentations.

Internal Slide Links Can Follow Your Slides

If a link points to a particular slide and you later reorder or remove slides, supported internal links can continue pointing to the relevant slide rather than relying only on its previous position.

Unsupported or unsafe links are filtered out automatically.

It’s a small change, but it can save you from checking and fixing links every time you make changes to a presentation.

A Cleaner Way to Find Editing Tools

We’ve also reorganized the bottom toolbar.

Different slide-building tools are now grouped under a single Insert menu, where you can find:
Text styles
Shapes
Tables
Charts
Images
Themes
Diagrams
Embeds

There are also quick actions for commonly used items such as media, shapes, and themes.

The goal is simple: make it easier to find the tool you need without searching through the editor.

Code Blocks That Fit Your Slides Better

Technical presentations have their own formatting challenges. Code can be wider than the available space, and long lines can cause problems with the rest of the slide layout.

SlidesAI has improved how code blocks are sized so they better match the content inside them.

Long lines are handled more appropriately, while content below the code block can reflow instead of being covered.

This makes it easier to include technical examples directly in your presentation instead of relying on screenshots.

A Few More Improvements

Better Right-to-Left Charts

Charts now follow the correct reading direction for Arabic, Hebrew, and other right-to-left languages, including labels, axes, legends, and category order.

Larger Chart Previews

Charts now have larger previews in the editor and Present mode, giving you a closer visual match between the editing experience and the finished presentation.

What This Update Means for Your Presentations?

This update gives you more ways to work with information once your presentation moves beyond simple text and images.

  • Comparing data sets? Choose from more chart types.
  • Want to highlight a number? Annotate the chart.
  • Showing geographic data? Use a World Map.
  • Explaining a process or system? Build it with Mermaid.
  • Moving slides around? Supported internal links can follow the relevant slide.
  • Working with code? Code blocks now handle sizing and layout better.

You can still use SlidesAI to get a presentation started quickly. Now you have more ways to refine the details without constantly moving between different tools.

More Ways to Build Better Slides

This update gives you more room to work with data, diagrams, links, and technical content directly in SlidesAI.

You can move from raw numbers to a chart, from an idea to a diagram, or from a block of code to a presentation-ready slide without constantly switching between different tools.

Less jumping between tools. Less manual fixing. More control over the details of your presentation.
